RMSP: My 5th, 6th, 7th Week of Summer Intensive Program

明天就是第八週的課程了, 趕快來回顧一下前三週所學.

學校的Photo Printing Lab用的以Canon 9500 (新款是9500 Mark II)和 Epson 2400 (新款是2800/2880)二款為主, 我們要學如何Troubleshooting, 如何Setup, 如何因應不同紙類做列印選項調整, 然後我們可以用自己的紙列印我們自己的攝影作品. 幸運的是, Canon這次免費提供四種不同的紙類給我們做Sample, 每人每種可拿一張試印, 這是過去沒有的好康. 我用九張圖拼成一張, 有黑白, 有彩色, 有人像, 有風景, 然後列印在四種不同的紙上, 這下就真的看得出來這之間的差別.

然後我們開始學Photoshop – Layer, Selection, Masks, Filters等基本項目, 我只能說大部份都是有聽沒懂, 而且我覺得光是Photoshop就可以分出來另外開一週的課程, 還不一定學的完, 所以我可能要另外在找專門教Photoshop for Photographer的課程, 這次的二堂共八小時的課算是熱身吧.

我們學了基本的外接閃燈TTL用法, 看似不難, 不過還是要多練習才抓的住那個眉尬. 老師替我們分好三人一組, 給大家一個Photojournalism Project, 結果我被分到和一個老巫婆同組 (這是我跟她同組第二次, 同組的另一個女生已經和她同組二次, 我們兩都是苦不堪言), 因為她很不合群, 又老要擺張臭臉, 每次要和她討論都一副不耐煩的樣子, 我們提的建議她都搖頭, 問她的建議也搖頭, 真的很煩.

我們數位底片的尺寸是8x12, 但是你有沒有發現你去洗相片時, 如果洗4x6沒問題, 如果要洗5x7 or 8x10常常被迫裁剪相片的左右二邊, 而且標準相框也都是 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, 16x20, 20x24, 你知道原因嗎?

因為這些尺寸都是以前的Large Format底片機用的底片尺寸, 雖然現在一般消費者所用的數位相機都是8x12, 但是從來沒有消費者抱怨, 所以相紙公司還是沒有改變相紙尺寸, 反而老要我們裁剪所拍的相片. 我很討厭這樣, 所以我洗相片都是洗8x12, 因為我拍照的構圖就是按照我看到的那樣拍, 我不願意拍照時還要把洗8x10的裁剪因素給考慮進去, 故意預留裁剪空間, 那好像有點本末導置吧. 但是我也為我的堅持付出代價, 因為洗8x12的相片比8x10的貴, 而且我都必須另外買Mat Board回家自己裁剪, 不然就要上網訂購特製8x12尺寸的Mat, 因為一般相框店賣的Pre-Cut Mat都是8x10.

我們也學習傳統Framing (Glass+Mat+Backing+Frame) 的正確方式, 也學習Alternative Framing (另類的表框方式). 有一堂課是請一位Fine Art Photographer, Jenni Fraser來分享她的心得. 她是用二張相片 (一張Focused, 一張Out of focused)重疊一起, 來製造類似Painting的效果 (我想她在相片上有另外上某種漆, 來製造 Painting的感覺). 而她呈現她的作品的方式也非常有別一般, 她選擇在木框上厚厚一層的漆, 然後趁漆未乾前, 再上不同顏色的漆或是用工具去製造出Texture (我在網上找不到表框的相片). 最後她再把相片畫貼在有顏色且Textured的木框上, 用不同傳統的方式呈現, 別有一番風味.

今天我和同學去Polson看Radio Waves Regatta (Boat Race), 這些船可不是一般的帆船喔, 這些外表看起來像F1賽車的Hydroplane (水上滑艇), 最快可以開到160 mph喔.

They called this program Intensive for reason but I am glad that I can learn all these things in 5 months in stead of 4 years for a BA or 3 years for a MFA.

I am so happy to know that you like my photos. Hopefully I would get chances to sell these images to Stock agencies to pay for some of my tuition. :p

Looks like you learned so much in just three weeks! I love many of your photos and techniques. Montana is such a beautiful place, and I really would love to go back one day.

就我知道的
可以用Photoshop, or Photomatix等影像後製軟體
一般相機都會附送一張CD
裡面也有後製軟體
不過我沒仔細去注意附送的是哪一種軟體

妳的課程內容真的很豐富我喜歡Jenni Fraser 的作品恕我科技文盲請問如何重疊兩張照片呢?
